Comparison of channel capacity and video throughput

Abstract
Throughput is one of important aspects of computer system design. Most critical is video streaming. This table summarizes communication channel capacities and video throughput of raw video sorted by bitrate. Throughput of compressed video can be calculated by multiplication by color depth in bytes, dividing to compression ratio and adjusting fps. This table helps to plan properly communication technology and video quality.

Video encoding ratio usually in range 20-500. Some values for example: camcorder – 20, Movie – 50, IP Camera – 100, Low quality video – 500.
